Need some girl-spiration? We're crushing on a bunch of very talented up-and-coming female artists this week who are well worth keeping your eyes (and ears) peeled for.

Stef Chura

Detroit rocker Stef Chura is certainly on the rise. She's been embedded in the independent music scene for a long time but only just released her first album Messes earlier this year. It showcases her fuzzed out 90's style guitars with her twangy vocals and DIY attitude that together make for a great record.

The hair, that voice and her love of Anohni. Mellisa Johnson, aka 28 year old Lizzo, just killed it at SXSW apparently and one to certainly put on the watch list.

Las Kellies

They've been around since 2005 but Argentinian group Las Kellies are now making waves with their chilled sunday afternoon vibe indie pop. It's melodic garage rock as some would say, that's perfect for escaping time.

Julie Byrne

When you hear singer-songwriter Julie Byrne's music, you find your self in a state of serenity - almost immediately. Between studying Environmental Science and working as a seasonal park ranger in Central Park NYC, she's put out two studio albums, Rooms With Walls and Windows (2014) and Not Even Happiness (2017) - both worth getting your hands on. Fall in love with her timelessness.

Toulouse native, Jain, released her debut album Zanaka (meaning "Child") in 2015 at the age of 23. She mixes reggae, trip-hop, rock and funk to fashion these jazzy-esk tunes with nonsensical english lyrics thrown in. She's fun, lively and definitely worth listening too.

Jay Som

Melina Duterte aka Jay Som is the daughter of Filipino immigrants. She grew up in Oakland, playing the trumpet and has recored a lot of her work entirely alone in her bedroom set up. She released her first album on BandCamp amidst a drunken evening and since gaining recognition, she's opened for Peter Bjorn and John, Mitski and Japanese Breakfast.

All Our Exes Live In Texas

Charming Sydney-siders, All Our Exes Live In Texas, are a group of folk singers, or as they say, a fantasy draft of Sydney’s finest singer-songwriters. They've toured with the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke and then the Backstreet Boys....? and they released their debut album in March. Keep your eyes peeled.
